How eBay fees work in 2026
- Final value fee: 13.6% of the total amount of the sale for most categories, up to $7,500 per item (2.35% on the part above $7,500). The total includes the item price, shipping, handling and sales tax.
- Per-order fee: $0.40 per order, or $0.30 if the order total is $10 or less.
- Category exceptions: books, movies and music (except vinyl) are 15.3%; trading cards, collectible card games and comics are 13.25%; guitars and basses are 6.7%; sneakers of $150 or more are 8% with no per-order fee; handbags and jewelry use 15% up to a threshold. See the full table below.
- eBay Stores: Basic, Premium and Anchor Store subscribers pay lower rates in many categories, such as 12.7% for most categories and 9.35% for most electronics. Starter Store subscribers pay the standard rates.
- Promoted Listings: optional. You pay your chosen ad rate when an item sells through an ad.

Frequently asked questions
Does eBay charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The final value fee is a percentage of the total amount of the sale, which includes the shipping the buyer pays, handling charges and sales tax. Offering free shipping doesn't avoid the fee on shipping; it just moves the shipping cost into your item price.
Does eBay charge fees on sales tax?
Yes. eBay collects sales tax for you, and its final value fee is calculated on the total amount of the sale including that tax. This calculator includes it using the tax rate you enter.
What is eBay's per-order fee?
$0.40 per order, or $0.30 when the order total is $10 or less. Sneakers that sell for $150 or more don't pay the per-order fee.
Is an eBay Store worth it for the fee discount?
It depends on your category and volume. A Basic Store cuts most categories from 13.6% to 12.7%, and most electronics to 9.35%. Compare the monthly savings against the subscription price. Starter Stores don't get lower final value fees.
What's the fee for trading cards on eBay?
13.25% of the total sale up to $7,500 (2.35% above that), plus the per-order fee. With a Basic or higher Store it's 12.35% up to $2,500.
Where should you sell it?
Fees are only part of the story, since shipping, speed and audience matter too. Use the Where Should I Sell? comparison to see your profit on every platform at once.
